Built in the 18th century on the former moats of the city walls, the Promenades of Reims, France, link the historic centre with the suburbs. Despite the disruptions caused by infrastructure such as railways and roads, the rich arboreal heritage of chestnut, maple and plane trees was a central element of this space, but also a challenge for the redevelopment project. The aim was to revitalise this space as a green and blue corridor for the city, enhancing the attractiveness of the historic centre while providing a new leisure area for residents. The project restored the unity of the whole, creating an urban forest with clearings, paths and new visual perspectives, while rehabilitating historic monuments and heritage trees.
