The architect and urban planner Alejandro Echeverri is the director of the Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (Urbam) in Medellin. Shared Spaces could interview him in the Colombian city in November 2012, when he participated in a conference entitled "Creative Cities", under which the European Prize for Urban Public Space presented the exhibition "In favour of public space". In our conversation, Echeverri told us how the inhabitants of his city had been defeated when using the street as a meeting place and to what extent "public space was one of the keys to regain Medellin."
