The ten members of the International Jury of the ninth edition of the European Prize for Urban Public Space are meeting on the 28 and 29 April at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) to evaluate the 276 submitted works.
After an intensive reviewing and online-voting period, the International Jury (chaired by Enric Batlle and composed by Peter Cachola Schmal, Matevž Čelik, Hans Ibelings, Juulia Kauste, Ewa P. Porębska, Francis Rambert, Dietmar Steiner and Elis Woodman) has met today to reach a consensus about which —amongst the 276 projects coming from 33 different countries— are the best rated works.During both days, the meetings will take place at the «Mirador» in the CCCB, where all the submitted works will be exposed. Today, the members of the Jury will decide the 25 finalist works of this year’s edition. The finalists will be part of the itinerant exhibition “Shared Cities” that will stop in different cities within Europe and around the world, with the aim of showing the Prize’s results while offering a space for reflecting about the building of public spaces in the current urban European context. The finalist works will also be made available at the Prize online Archive, including images, data and texts that explain the projects in detail. Tomorrow the Jury must come up with a consensual verdict about the winner and the possible special mentions. Once the results have been decided, the Jury members will conjointly write down the supporting act justifying them and will finally be interviewed to comment on the winning works.
The results will not be made public until the award-giving ceremony that will take place at the CCCB auditorium on July 4. The ceremony will be streamed online, and the President of the International Jury, Enric Batlle, will give a talk about his impressions regarding this year’s edition of the Prize.
