The launch of Portrait de Ville – Barcelone by Jesús de la Torre and Amador Ferrer, published by the prestigious Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, Paris, to be held at COAC, Barcelona, on 19 February.
The launch of Portrait de Ville – Barcelone by Jesús de la Torre Monmany and Amador Ferrer Aixalà, and published by the prestigious Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, Paris, is to take place at the Col·legi d’Arquitectes de Catalunya (COAC - College of Architects of Catalonia) on 19 February. Please click here for the invitation.
The architects Jordi Rogent and Xavier Monteys will present the book and Fernando Marzá, the COAC spokesperson for Culture, will chair the event.
The book offers a portrait of the Catalan capital in the form of a genealogy of urban space, while also highlighting both its singularities due to the city’s history and geography, and its outstanding facet as the place of origin of exceptional artists.
Portrait de Ville – Barcelone is the latest monograph in the “Portrait de ville” collection. The different studies of the collection share the common feature of their endeavour to present the architecture and urban planning of cities in perspective by means of mutual mirroring between past and present.
The publisher, Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine, is an institution that is widely recognised for its efforts to promote the European identity around the world. Since this spirit is shared with the European Prize for Urban Public Space, the exhibition of the 2012 Prize will be shown in the Cité as of 25 March.
