Architect. Member of the Prize’s Board of Experts (2016-2024)
After studying Architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts, the Delft University of Technology, and the University of Wuppertal, she is was director of Stad en Architectuur for 20 years, a Leuven-based association which promotes architecture through debates, talks, and exhibitions. Prior to this, she worked as an architect in studios in Rotterdam and Maastricht.
Petra Griefing has wide-ranging experience as a programmer of exhibitions, debates, and lecture series on architecture and urban design. She has been a curator of several exhibitions on Belgian architecture and also of “Rebuilding the Republic” (M-Museum Leuven, 2011), on new Irish architecture. She has published books on recent Belgian architecture and has worked in educational programmes for children in this area. Moreover, she has been a member of several juries as well as of the Mies van der Rohe Foundation Committee of Experts, and is member of the Urban Design Committee in Leuven.
