Architect. President of the Prize jury (2018)
Olga Tarrasó qualified as an architect at the Barcelona Graduate School of Architecture (ETSAB, UPC) in 1982 and gained her master’s degree in landscape architecture at the UPC in 1985. She formed part of Barcelona City Council’s Urban Projects Office since it was set up, in 1981, until 2000. She has combined professional practice with academia, and taught classes at various schools of architecture, agricultural engineering and design throughout Europe.
Since 1991 she has been part of the ESPINÀS and TARRASÓ practice developing a wide variety of projects in the disciplines of landscape, architecture and design, with the collaboration of other multidisciplinary teams, and working in such diverse geographical areas as Morocco, Belgium, France and the Scandinavian countries. The studio’s projects include Passeig Marítim in La Barceloneta (FAD Prize 1996) and the undergrounding of the Ronda del Mig ring road (Dècada prize 2006), in Barcelona. Its more recent works include the development plan for the old town of Tangier (2010-2011), Passeig Marítim in Badalona (2012), the Besòs Campus outdoor spaces of the UPC (2016) and the urban design of Media Park in Brussels (2014-2020).
She has extensive experience of forming part of architecture prize juries, such as the Ciutat de Barcelona Architecture and Landscape Award and the FAD Prize.
President of the jury of the European Prize for Urban Public Space in 2018.
