An artist and media theorist

He is associate professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of California, San Diego.
His ongoing artistic and research project “Under FIRE” is concerned with the organisation and representation of political violence and was inaugurated in October 2006 at the Seville Biennial of Contemporary Art. Two of the “Under Fire” catalogues, published in 2004 and 2005, were produced by the Witte de With Centre for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam. The third volume was produced by the Seville Biennial early in 2007. Crandall writes on a regular basis on culture and technology.
