Architect and urban planner, director of the Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (Urbam) at EAFIT University.
The architect and urban planner Alejandro Echeverri is the director of the Centre for Urban and Environmental Studies (Urbam) at EAFIT University, in Medellin. He studied at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (UPB), where he was lecturer and director of the Research Group in Architecture between 2001 and 2003. He attended his doctoral studies in the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB - UPC), where he has also been a visiting professor. Furthermore, he has participated in the worldwide celebrated urban transformation of Medellin, first as general manager of the Urban Development Corporation (EDU) of the city (2004-2005) and later as the director of urban projects of the Municipality of Medellín (2005-2008). Among his most notable buildings, is the Parque Explora, a centre for dissemination of science and technology located in the same Colombian city.
