 Deputy Director of the Centre for the Study of Cities and Regions (http://www.dur.ac.uk/cscr/) and Associate Director of the International Boundaries Research Unit (http://www.dur.ac.uk/ibru/). His main research areas are the relationships between urban spaces and mobility, infrastructure and technology, on the one hand, and war, surveillance and geopolitics, on the other. His most recent books are Cities, War and Terrorism (Blackwell, 2004) and Cities Under Siege: The New Military Urbanism (Verso Books, 2009).
