Professor of Political Science

Born in Vilanova i la Geltrú in 1960, Montserrat Guibernau has a PhD in Social and Political Theory from Cambridge University and is Professor of Political Science at Queen Mary University of London. She has taught in the universities of Barcelona, Cambridge and Warwick as well as the Open University, is a Senior Fellow at the Cañada Blanch Centre of the London School of Economics, and has held visiting positions at several academic institutions including the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

Her research is mainly concerned with questions of nationalism, governance of plurinational democracies, globalisation, citizenship and the European identity, while her areas of interest include Catalonia, Scotland, Quebec, Northern Ireland and Veneto.
