An architect and urban planner
He is the founder of the programme “Favela Bairro” in Rio de Janeiro, which aims to bring scaled-up urbanisation to the favelas in the peripheral areas of the city. In recognition of his contributions he has received the Veronica Rudge Green Award from Harvard University and the main award of the Fourth International Architecture Biennale of São Paulo, as well as other prizes. His full-time work is in the field of housing and its urban-planning, architectural and social implications in the situation of urban peripheries.More information:
