Internationally renowned city advisor and founder & chair of 8 80 Cities non-profit organization . Peñalosa is also Senior Consultant for the renowned Danish firm Gehl Architects, and is member of the Boards of Directors of American Trails, Ciclovias of the Americas, and City Parks Alliance. As former Comissioner of Parks, Sports and Recreation in Bogotá, he and his team initiated the 121 kilometres-long «Ciclovia», a car-free Sundays event which sees the participation of over 1 million pedestrians and bikers. He also designed and successfully developed over 200 parks, being the 360 hectare Simón Bolívar park the most well-known.
In the last eight years, Peñalosa has worked in over 180 different cities along the six continents. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California’s Anderson School of Management.
