Architect. Member of the Prize Jury (2022)
After graduating from the Ljubljana School of Architecture and the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London, Videčnik established OFIS Arhitekti in 1996, together with Rok Oman. The office is based in Ljubljana and Paris. Since its creation, the practice has been investigating spatial relations in different scales and contexts. Their construction work is represented by a range of projects from the public sphere, sports, cultural and religious buildings, through to single and multiple housing. Their academic research combines different interests and areas of curiosity. They explore European and local Slovenian identity in contemporary architectural language, which includes traditional knowledge of vernacular buildings, revitalisations, conversions, and new buildings in alpine areas. Through their research into Habitation in Extreme Environments, they have constructed several alpine shelters in Slovenia and a glass house in the desert in Spain. Videčnik teaches and, together with Rok Oman, runs studios and workshops in various Schools for architecture including Harvard Graduate School of Design, the Architectural Association in London, Hong Kong University, UCLA in Los Angeles, Milano Politecnico, and ENSA Paris Val de Seine, and the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana.
