The list of the 25 finalist works of the ninth edition of the European Prize for Urban Public Space (2016) is now available for consultation on this website. The finalists constitute a first selection done by the International Jury of the Prize during their meeting held at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) on the 28 and 29 April. During the two intensive working days, the members of the Jury, chaired by Enric Batlle, reviewed and evaluated some 276 submitted candidatures, coming from 205 cities and representing a total of 33 different countries.

Among the 25 finalists, the Jury also reached a verdict regarding the winners and special mentions that will not be made public until the 4 July, during the award-giving ceremony taking place at the CCCB. Meanwhile, the 25 finalists form a comprehensive sample that is representative of the diversity of interventions and the abundant examples of good practices for the improvement of public spaces throughout the geographical limits of contemporary Europe.

For the time being, the list of the 25 finalists allows for the downloading of the three panels submitted to the award by their respective authors or developers. Later on, the finalists will be published on the Prize’s online Archive, and will also be part of the travelling exhibition “Shared Cities”, that, during the next two years will be displayed in different European cities and around the world.
