The aim of the project is to breathe life into the public sphere in suburbs of Central European capitals. All the authors of the selected interventions will be participating in the workshop.
CULBURB (Cultural Acupuncture Treatment for Suburbs) is an EU-financed project that aims to breathe life into the public sphere in the suburbs of Central European capitals by means of small interventions that will bring a better quality of public space and lead to enhanced social life, a reduction of barriers, an improved environment and creation of a community spirit. The initiative is an attempt to respond to problems deriving from urban sprawl, as a result of which most citizens live outside the bounds of the dense city and thus isolated from political and social activities.
The project is being carried out in Prague, Budapest, Bratislava, Ljubljana, Warsaw and Vienna. The authors of the selected projects will come together in the AzW workshop to discuss their projects.
Participants: Karoline Mayer, Wolfgang Schneider, Yvette Vašourková, Kovačević Igor, Werner Fenz, Stefan Gruber, Edit András, Angelika Fitz, and Tomáš Pospiszyl.
