Professor at the Institute of Architecture, Beate Marie Hølmebakk is responsible for studio TAP – The Architectural Project which runs two master’s courses in building design: Building in Landscape and Building in Life.

After studying at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design (AHO) and The Cooper Union in New York, she has been a lecturer at the Chalmers University of Technology and guest lecturer at the University of Navarra and Cornell University. She has also taught at the Barbican, Harvard GSD, the Cass, Kingston University, Cornell University, Hong Kong University, and Politecnico di Milano.

Together with Per Tamsen she is founder of Manthey Kula (www.mantheykula.no), an internationally recognised architectural office working in the areas of architecture, landscape architecture, and art. The office was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2009, 2011, 2019 and 2022 and has been represented in several international architecture collections, biennales, and exhibitions.
