Dietmar Steiner

Architect and former director of the Architekturzentrum Wien. Member of the Prize jury (2002-2016)

1951-2020

Director of the Architekturzentrum Wien from 1993 to 2016. Until 1989, he lectured in History and Theory of Architecture at the Graduate School of Applied Arts in the Austrian capital. He was curator of Austria’s contribution to the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2002. He is a member of the advisory committee of the European Union Contemporary Architecture Prize–Mies van der Rohe Award, and president of the International Confederation of Architectural Museums (ICAM).

Other activities include his work as a contributor to the Italian journal Domus and numerous articles about architecture and urban development. He has recently published a book, Steiner’s Diary. On Architecture Since 1959 (Park Books, 2017), bringing together all his articles and some unpublished texts.

Member of the jury of the European Prize for Urban Public Space from 2002 to 2016.
