Jury Starts with Reviewing Process

European Prize for Urban Public Space 2016

The registration period is now closed, and 276 works have been successfully submitted. The International Jury, chaired by Enric Batlle is now going through the reviewing process of the works. The final resolutions will be announced on July.

The registration period of the ninth edition of the European Prize for Urban Public Space (2016) has finished on 22 February. 276 works are participating on this year’s edition —already available online— coming from 33 different countries. Spain and Italy are leading the number of submitted works, followed by Bulgaria, France and Portugal.

Last Tuesday 29 March, the President of the Jury, Enric Batlle, and the Secretary David Bravo started with the reviewing process of the submitted projects. The members of the International Jury —formed by Peter Cachola Schmal (director of the Museum of German Architecture), Matevž Čelik (director of the Museum of Architecture and Design, Slovenia), Hans Ibelings (director and editor of The Architecture Observer), Juulia Kauste (director of the Arkkitehtuurimuseo, Helsinki), Ewa P. Porębska (editor-in-chief of the magazine Architektura-Murator), Francis Rambert (architecture critic and director of the Cité de l'Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris), Dietmar Steiner (architect, director of the Architekturzentrum Wien in Vienna) and Elis Woodman (architect, former director of The Architecture Foundation, London)— are currently commencing the evaluation online.

The Jury will meet at the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) on 28 and 29 April. Their verdict will be announced at the award-giving ceremony which will take place at the CCCB, on 4 July.
