"Shared Cities (2016)"

For two years, the "Shared Cities" exhibition travels around the world in order to show the results of the latest edition of the Prize. Its bracket, a modular system consisting of roller canvas and aluminum profiles, is packaged in two small and light boxes and fits easily into very different architectural spaces. At each stop, some parallel activities that complement the exhibition take place, such as debates, workshops or conferences.

Travelling Exhibition Dossier 2016

The 28 winning and mentioned works of the nine editions of the Prize constitute a gauge of the democratic quality of Europe’s urban and social fabrics. In the retrospective exhibition "Polis: Seven lessons from the European Prize for Urban Public Space", they have been grouped around seven big headings that have emerged as empirically learned lessons: "Margins", "Mixture", "Marketplaces", "Waterfronts", "Mobility", "Memory" and "Democracy". They all confi rm the social and political dimension that permeates the city and which is so well refl ected in the Greek term polis.
